| All above data correct to the
start of the 1998 Formula One Season. Will be updated in the off season |
Mclaren have been in Grand Prix Racing since the 1966 Monaco Grand
Prix and has become one of the more respected and exciting teams over the
years. The team holds 7 constructors titles, but they look set to add another
on that number in a short period of time. If they do that it will out them
in joint second place with Ferrari, with only William's having more
Over the last few years since Senna left them after the 1993 season,
McLaren hit very low times but 1996 was going to be the year when they
re-found their form and gradually, over 1997 they pulled the gap right
back to almost nothing, before in 1998 they came out of the off season
with the new design of car looking like the rules had been made to measure
for the McLaren team, as they had pull back from a few tenths down to 1.5
seconds faster, almost unheard of before.
Over 1998 they have continued to be dominant despite a mid season
collapse which appears to be over after 1-2's at Austria and Germany. |
